First up is The Honey Pot Company ! the first time I saw The Honey Pot Company was on their Target commercial. It wasn’t until I heard the founder was receiving backlash and being called a racist for uplifting young black girls. Since I am a self proclaimed rabble-rouser I had to spend my coins and support her cause. I also was interested in finding a product that could give my “little lady” some holistic TLC. Even though “Honey” is right in the name, The Honey Pot Company is entirely plant-based and 100% vegan & cruelty-free, so anything you’d like to buy from them is a totally safe bet in that arena.

The sensitive wash my first step in their vaginal care system.

Promises:

  • Banish odor causing bacteria with every use

  • Balance pH levels with natural plant essences

  • Boost moisture levels and avoid the dreaded dry feeling

I was a bit skeptical about using this wash at all because I don’t have the best track record when trying new soap products. I have very sensitive skin and it can be pretty easy to throw off my PH balance and some products do way more harm than good. The vagina is self-cleaning and does not need any help in that area. However, products like Honey Pot can actually be helpful in eliminating bacteria.

After 4 or 5 uses I have actually started to see & feel results. The Honey Pot Company is a keeper !

The next beauty company I have developed a love affair with is Smouve! A local makeup artist in my hometown created this company after always sharing her skin care routine with us on social media. She not only dominated the makeup industry, but she hit the ball out of the park on her skin care line. Her “BYE OIL” face mask is the perfect clarifying facial treatment to remove excess oil and unwanted breakouts. Continuous use of this mask helped with controlling my acne and blackheads. The texture of the mask is pretty smooth and feels cooling on the skin. I wouldn’t answer the door while wearing it as the “baby puke” color isn’t too my absolute best look. I apply the mask on dampened skin, let it sit about five to ten minutes until it dries and gently rinse without too much rubbing or tugging. The feel is very refreshing, clean but not tight, which I LOVE! I would definitely recommend this mask for anyone needing an effective and gentle way to clarify their skin.

CROWN ME COIL

CROWN ME COIL

I first heard about Crown Me Coil Enthroned Edges when I watched a hilarious Tik Tok video showcasing how strong the hold is. According to the container, this product is a “Long Lasting Edge Control.” I’ve heard the about this edge control than more any other line on the market. It DEFINITELY has hold! As I blogger I often utilize one day of the week to create several pieces of content all at once. I always need my makeup and hair to hold until I’m done creating. I usually get started around 07:00am, and finish around 4:00pm. Every time I use this product my edges still look good! So far I’m SHOOKETH of the strength of this product. SHOOKETH! I also love that its not like hair cement, its very easy to wash and comb through when you’re done. Now I will say that I didn’t find this product to be buildable, but I don’t always put edge control in my hair so this doesn’t bother me.

Overall, I am pleased with this line. I think it’s a great company. The best part is that I don’t feel like it’s a waste of money!

This year I have made is goal of mine to support my own people. Supporting black-owned businesses, is important because it supports the economy within the black community. Not only are there great black-owned business out there, but the quality of the products are top notch. It’s time to dismantle the long time myth and stigma that black-made products are of low quality and are not as “good” as products made from another race. Unfortunately we don’t like ourselves, so we don’t trust ourselves enough to support one another. Reshaping this type of thinking is not only important amongst those in the black community, but for all people of different races. So don’t hesitate to buy a lipstick from your local black makeup artist, hire the young black graphic designer or eat at the new black owned restaurant. Don’t be afraid to BUY BLACK!
